If you ask the question “What is the secret to beautiful skin?”, the popular answer will always be: find a skin care routine suitable for your skin type and stick to it, morning and night and if you take care of your skin and make it a priority OR drink lots of water, the end result will always be beautiful, clear and healthy-looking skin.

However, finding a skin care routine isn’t always easy. Choosing whether you should have two, three, four or more steps is often stressful. While I would say “keep it a minimum: cleanse, tone and moisturize” , someone else would advise you to do more and go all out with your routine. But before doing anything to your skin, it’s important to learn about your skin type, what it wants and making sure that every product that touches your skin is the perfect fit.

Throughout the years, I’ve come to understand that my ‘Normal/Combination’ skin is happy with a basic routine and basic products. But because I try out so many new products to review every now and again, I often fail to maintain the integrity of skin, resulting in occasional breakouts. Although I deviate from the type of products I use, I still stick to a simple 3 Step routine; Cleanse, tone and moisturize. However, there are some people who go all out when it comes to their skin and they’re not afraid to try out new steps and many products to go along with it, from oils to serums and all sorts of masks, they’re okay with spending loads of time caring for their faces. Take Lesedi Ramonyane (also know as Sedi_Ramone) for instance, a blogger & friend who does a massive 7-Step routine. I always joke with Sedi and say that her face will burn off whenever she adds a new step to her regime, because to me it all seems extensive but for her, it works beautifully because her skin is absolutely amazing.

While I remain scared of a K-Beauty Routine, Sedi fears nothing. She has pretty much tried it all and she really isn’t afraid to experiment with her skin so, why not learn a little more from this beautiful (brave) lady. Take a look below to see how my 3 Step Beauty Routine compares to Sedi’s 7 Step Beauty Routine as well as some of our favorite products to use for each step:

A 3-step routine can deliver great results just as much as a 6 or 7-step would because it is truly more about doing what’s right for your skin and less about how many steps you have in your beauty routine.
Remember: The goal is to have healthy skin and to maintain the integrity of your skin.
