DOUBLE DENIM

Denim. That rebellious, youthful and independent piece of material that changed the world.
Any mention of denim and Levi’s comes to mind, whether it’s denim shorts, mom jeans or jackets, a Levi’s item is without a doubt the epitome of cool denim. It’s rebellious, youthful and independent

Double Denim or denim-on-denim is something we all know works! However, the trend freaked us out a few years back as it took us back to circa 2001 where Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake wore matching horrible (iconic) indigo getups to the American Music Awards, it made everyone wonder if something is truly wrong with the fashion world. Throughout the years designers, bloggers, stylists etc. have proven that well, we’re all sane and the trend just works. Because we know the impact of the trend, we stopped talking about it and designers never really focused on it on their runways until Fashion Week SS18 – where everyone was thinking “oh here we go again” … only because it would become a topic again, like how I am talking about it now.

In the most recent SS18 runway collection we saw designers like Tibi, Rachel Zoe, Adam Selman (personal favorite), Tom Ford and many more showcased some amazing double denim looks. From mom jeans and matching jackets at the Selman show to oversized high shoulder padded jackets and matching pants at Tom Ford, I was inspired.

With all that inspiration floating around post 2017 fashion week, I had to go double denim one more time. I rarely wear double denim, but when I do, it’s usually a much more updated version from the previous time. This time around I went for my favorite pair of Levi’s Mom Jeans and doubled up with an embroidered H&M Denim Jacket that’s perfectly oversized. This look was a great no-brainer outfit to throw on, it’s easy, cool and comfortable. These denim pieces are very simple, making it easy to accessorize and style up or down. I added these pink block heels which complimented the embroidery details on the jacket quite well.

A classic denim jacket (or jeans) is just one of those closet must-haves that you’ll wear forever but changing things up is fun too, whether you try something cropped, frayed or embroided like the jacket I’m wearing, it’s always great to have a quirky spin on some classics; it gives a more rebellious, youthful and independent look!
