We have a love/hate relationship with the sun, it feels great on the skin but it tends to damage the skin. As much as we would want to lay all day in the sun, we still need to be mindful of the effects of the sun.

Soaking up the sun without proper protection can cause serious harm to your skin, this is why sunscreen is so important. Sunscreen is a product that combines several ingredients that help prevent the sun’s ultraviolet (UV) radiation from reaching the skin and of course NIVEA has a great selection of sunscreens to choose from.

When selecting a sunscreen, it is ideal to choose one that blocks enough UV Rays to adequately protect your skin so we look for a sunscreen that has a broad-spectrum or multi-spectrum protection for both Ultraviolet A (UVA) and Ultraviolet B (UVB). The first thing we look at is the SPF of the sunscreen, Sun Protection Factor(SPF) rates how well the sunscreen protects you against sunburn hence why we look for a product that has SPF 15 or higher. The NIVEA Sun product range goes all the way up to 50+ and is suitable to different skin types, including darker tones.

The second thing we look out for is if the sunscreen is water & sweat resistant. Although water & sweat resistant sunscreens aren’t 100% waterproof, they are formulated to stay on your skin even after getting wet. This is why I love these NIVEA sunscreens so much; they are non-sticky, easily absorbed and water resistant however, just like any other sunscreen you still need to reapply every 2 hours or so after getting out of the water.

NIVEA Sun products offer UVA & UVB balanced protection, they are water resistant with reliable, immediate sun protection and my favourites being the face cream and sun spray.

Product Prices:

NIVEA Sun Anti-Age Face Sun Cream SPF 50+: R119,99 (50ml)

NIVEA Sun Protect & Refresh Refreshing Sun Lotion SPF 50: R164,99 (200ml)

NIVEA Sun Protect & Moisture Moisturizing Sun Spray SPF 50+: R189,99 (300ml)

As you can notice, sunscreen can get a bit pricey but it is very important and should not be neglected. By educating yourself about the many sunscreen options, you can be confident that the product you choose will fit your needs and protect you from the sun’s rays this summer – alongside with this sunscreen guide, here are tips to help you BEAT THE HEAT this season!photo-2016-11-18-10-32-04niveasungifimg_3589

Wow, sunscreen is so expensive! Which one should I buy if I can’t afford all 3?

It really is expensive but absolutely important. I would start with the Face Sunscreen and when you can afford to get one for the body, I would suggest the Protect & Moisture sun spray.
